Dave Dudley

Dave Dudley (born David Darwin Pedruska on May 3, 1928, and passed away on December 22, 2003) was an American country music singer who gained fame for his trucking songs, particularly "Six Days On The Road," which is considered to be the definitive anthem for truck drivers. Born in Spencer, Wisconsin, Dudley began his career as a disc jockey before stepping into the music industry in earnest in the late 1950s.

Dudley's baritone voice and honky-tonk style resonated with his listeners, leading to a string of hits throughout the 1960s and beyond. "Six Days On The Road," released in 1963, catapulted him to stardom and shaped his future releases, which continued to focus on the life of truckers and the open road. His authenticity struck a chord with many in the trucking community, who saw their own experiences reflected in his music. With albums like "One Lane Interstate," and "CB Radio Hits," Dudley not only provided entertainment but also a voice for the long-haul drivers and the challenges they faced. Even after his peak commercial years, he remained a respected figure in country music, celebrated for his thematic contributions to the genre. The Dave Dudley Anthology serves as a comprehensive compilation of his work and an homage to the man known as the "father of truck driving country."
