Elis

Elis was a gothic metal band with roots in Liechtenstein, initially formed under the name Erben der Schöpfung in 2001 before changing their name to Elis in 2003 following the departure of original vocalist, Sabine Dünser. The name change accompanied a shift in the band's musical direction; they started to craft a sound that was darker and more robust, while still maintaining the atmospheric and melodic elements of their origins.

Their albums, "God's Silence, Devil's Temptation" (2003) and "Dark Clouds in a Perfect Sky" (2004), set the stage for their gothic metal identity, characterized by haunting vocals and a blend of heavy riffs and symphonic elements. With the tragic passing of Dünser in 2006, the band released the album "Griefshire" as a tribute to her memory, solidifying their place in the gothic metal world as a band with both emotional depth and powerful musicality. Elis advanced on their journey with new vocalist Sandra Schleret, releasing the album "Catharsis" in 2009, which lived up to its name by providing a form of solace and emotional release. The band continued to evolve their sound with singles like "Show Me the Way" and the EP "Lust Hug," further exploring the themes of light and darkness, pain and redemption, which were central to their artistry. Despite their promise and dedicated fanbase, Elis disbanded in 2012, leaving behind a legacy of music that resonated with many lovers of the gothic metal genre.
