Dina El Wedidi

Dina El Wedidi is a dynamic Egyptian singer, composer, and songwriter, who has been captivating audiences with her unique blend of traditional Egyptian and contemporary world music since her emergence onto the music scene. Born on October 1, 1987, in Cairo, Dina initially studied to become a translator before her passion for music led her to a different path. She started her career in music by joining the famous Egyptian music collective El Warsha Theater Troupe, where she was schooled in the rich heritage of Egyptian folk music.

Dina's distinctive voice and modern interpretation of Egyptian folklore quickly garnered attention. She was selected as one of the young artists in the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative in 2012, which paired her with the Brazilian music icon Gilberto Gil as her mentor. This propelled her onto an international platform. Her discography reflects her ability to bridge past and present, evident in releases such as "Ya Ghazal," "Wehda," and "Keep On." Albums like "WUSUL" and the live recording "حفله دينا الوديدي 2020" showcase her versatility and prowess in delivering performances that resonate with both local and global audiences. Through her progressive and heartfelt compositions, Dina El Wedidi has not only established herself as a leading figure in Egypt's contemporary music landscape but also as a voice that speaks to the universal human experience, blending the personal with the politically engaged.
