He was born in Timon, Maranhão, but his musical legacy is most closely associated with Marabá in the state of Pará. Clayton gained fame with hits like "Bandido" and "Nathaly," which became staples in the "Saudade" style parties in Belém and other cities in Pará, especially during the 1970s and 1980s.
