Peter Hofmann was a German operatic tenor known for his powerful voice and dramatic stage presence. Born in Marienberg, Germany, in 1944, he began his musical career as a choirboy and later studied voice at the Dresden Conservatory. Hofmann made his professional debut in 1967 and quickly gained recognition for his performances in Wagnerian operas, particularly as Tristan in "Tristan und Isolde" and Siegmund in "Die Walküre." Throughout his career, he performed at major opera houses worldwide and recorded numerous albums, including "Wagner: Parsifal - Highlights" and "Beethoven: Fidelio." Hofmann passed away in 2010, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most celebrated operatic tenors of his generation.
