Herbert Kefer is a renowned Austrian violist born in Eisenerz in 1960. He began his musical education on the violin at the age of five and went on to study with Prof. Karl Frischenschlager in Leoben and Prof. Karl Stierhof at the University of Music in Vienna, graduating with distinction in 1986. In 1980, he co-founded the Artis-Quartett, which has released over thirty CDs, earning prestigious awards like the Grand Prix du Disque and Diapason d'Or. Kefer has enjoyed an international career, performing at major festivals, including the Salzburger Festspiele and Wiener Festwochen. He is also in demand as a soloist and chamber music partner. From 1991, he headed the Viola class at the Graz University of Music. Recently, he released recordings such as the *Telemann, Weber, Baksa & Bruch: Viola Concertos* and is set to release *Julius Röntgen Three Viola Sonatas* in collaboration with pianist Markus Schirmer.
