Giulia Genini is a Swiss-Italian musician renowned for her expertise in early music and historical instruments. Born in Lugano, Switzerland, she began her studies on the recorder at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana with Giorgio Merati before continuing her education at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. There, she refined her skills in recorder with Conrad Steinmann and in historical bassoons and dulcians with Donna Agrell and Josep Borras. She holds a diploma in recorder performance and pedagogy, as well as a Master's degree in Historical Performance Practice, both earned with distinction. Genini is the artistic director of the ensemble Concerto Scirocco and has been involved in numerous prestigious recordings and performances across Europe.
Giulia Genini's recent discography includes titles like "Sirens & Soldiers" and "Music for the Eyes," showcasing her focus on early music and baroque repertoire. Her work encompasses radio and video recordings for prominent European broadcasters and labels such as Deutsche Grammophon and Arcana. In addition to her performance career, Genini is a professor for historical bassoons at the Haute École de Musique in Geneva and co-Head of Studies in the performance area at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana.
