Datarock

Datarock is a Norwegian electronic rock band that emerged in the early 2000s, known for their catchy hooks, funky rhythms, and nerd-chic sensibilities. Formed in 2000 in Bergen, the band initially consisted of Fredrik Saroea, Ketil Mosnes, and Kevin O'Brien, with members fluctuating over the years. Datarock's name is a witty play on their computer-centric style and the Norwegian word for 'computer' — 'datamaskin'. With their distinctive red tracksuits, tribute to geek culture, and lively stage presence, Datarock quickly carved out a niche in the indie dance-rock scene.

Their music, often described as a blend of synth-pop, new wave, and indie rock, is characterized by an infectious energy and humorous lyrics. With an eclectic discography that includes hits like "Fa-Fa-Fa" from their self-titled debut album 'Datarock Datarock', they've gained international acclaim and a dedicated following. Their latest releases, such as "Media Consumption Pyramid" and "DISCObedience", continue to showcase their talent for creating dance-heavy tracks that retain the humorous and satirical edge that has become a hallmark of their work. 'Face the Brutality', their most recent album, saw the band refining their sound with a more polished production, while still delivering the playful content that fans have come to expect from the quirky and irreverent band.
