Matilda Colliard is an Italian cellist born in 1987 into a family of musicians. She began studying cello at just four years old and went on to graduate from the Novara Conservatory with highest honors. Throughout her career, she's established herself as a skilled chamber musician, winning numerous prestigious competitions including the European Music Competition in Moncalieri, the National Music Competition "Riviera della Versilia" in Tuscany, and the International Music Competition "Grand Prize Virtuoso" in London—a victory that led to her performing at the Royal Albert Hall. Beyond her competition success, Colliard has become a regular guest artist at major Italian festivals and concert institutions, and has performed across Europe and China.
Colliard has built an impressive discography of recordings, including the complete Beethoven Cello and Piano works and the integral recording of J.S. Bach's Six Suites for Solo Cello (BWV 1007-1012), making her the first Italian woman to record Bach's complete cello suites. Her most recent release is a recording of Anton Rubinstein's Cello Sonatas with pianist Stefano Ligoratti, released in November 2025. Her recordings have earned critical acclaim and are regularly broadcast on Italian and Swiss radio stations, showcasing her thoughtful interpretations of both classical and romantic-era repertoire.
