Secret Cities

Secret Cities is an indie pop project rooted in the DIY ethos, formed by childhood friends Charlie Gokey (North Dakota) and Marie Parker (Michigan) alongside collaborator Alex Abnos. The band began as a scrappy, long-distance collaboration in the mid-2000s, trading homemade cassette recordings while Gokey was still in high school. Their sound blends hazy psychedelia, lo-fi charm, and lush vocal harmonies, earning comparisons to Elephant 6 acts like The Olivia Tremor Control. After self-releasing early material, they dropped their full-length debut *Pink Graffiti* in 2011, followed by *Walk Me Home* (2015) and *Strange Hearts* (2020), showcasing their evolution from bedroom experiments to more polished, expansive arrangements. Tracks like "On Holiday" and "Bright Teeth" capture their knack for balancing nostalgic warmth with experimental textures, maintaining a cult following among fans of left-field pop.
