North of Grand

**North of Grand** is an Iowa-based band formed in March 2003. The group originally consisted of Sean Wilson (vocals, guitar), Dan Ketelsen (bass), and Pat Curtis (drums, backing vocals). In 2009, they welcomed Matt Wellendorf as their lead guitarist. Since their first gig in April 2003, North of Grand has performed nearly 500 shows across 25 states. Their music shifts from a more punk-influenced sound to a classic rock style, evident in their album *A Farewell To Rockets*. The band's name is derived from the Des Moines neighborhood where they reside, located just north of Grand Avenue. They have been recognized as the "Best Band in Iowa" by the Boston Phoenix in 2010.
