Jakob Bänsch

Jakob Bänsch is a talented young German jazz musician, born on January 17, 2003, in Pforzheim. Growing up in a family of classical musicians, he began playing the trumpet at the age of eight and later developed an interest in jazz. Bänsch has received extensive training, including studying jazz trumpet at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts and later at the Cologne University of Music and Dance. He has been part of several prestigious programs, such as the Elbphilharmonie Jazz Academy and the WDR Young Composers Fellowship. His music often blends classical influences with modern jazz, drawing inspiration from artists like Wayne Shorter and Maria Schneider.

Jakob Bänsch has gained recognition for his work, including winning the Young Lions Jazz Award and receiving the German Jazz Prize for his debut album "Opening" as "Debut Album of the Year" in 2024. He has performed with notable musicians and has been a member of various ensembles, including the Bundesjazzorchester and the WDR Big Band. His quartet, featuring musicians like Niklas Roever, Jakob Obleser, and Leo Asal, has been featured at prominent jazz festivals such as JazzOpen Stuttgart and Jazz Baltica.
