Rainbow Kitten Surprise

Rainbow Kitten Surprise, often abbreviated to RKS, is an eclectic indie rock quintet known for their ambitious sound that melds elements of folk, rock, and experimentations with rhythm and vocal harmonies. The band formed in the early 2010s, emerging from the mountains of Boone, North Carolina, where they began as a college dorm room project between lead vocalist and primary songwriter Sam Melo and guitarist Darrick "Bozzy" Keller.

The band's lineup quickly expanded to include Ethan Goodpaster on lead guitar, Jess Haney on drums, and Charlie Holt on bass, solidifying the group's distinct and dynamic sound. Renowned for their evocative lyrics and intoxicating live performances, Rainbow Kitten Surprise has carved out a unique niche within the indie music landscape. Their discography includes critically acclaimed albums such as "Seven + Mary" and "How to: Friend, Love, Freefall", both of which encapsulate their ability to address complex emotional landscapes and social commentary through poetic songwriting. With the release of live recordings from Athens, Georgia, and a selection of remixes and b-sides, RKS continues to enchant fans with their mesmeric harmonies, boundless energy, and a fearless approach to genre blending.
