Boogie Boys

The Boogie Boys were a New York hip-hop duo from the 1980s, originally consisting of Keith Short (Kool Ski) and William Stroman (Boogie Knight). They gained recognition after battling Pernellio and Crew, which led to their first record deal with Mike and Dave Records for the song "Rappin' Ain't No Thang." This local hit propelled them to become one of Manhattan's top performing duos, playing at venues like Harlem World and the Audubon Ballroom. They later signed with Capitol Records, where they released notable singles like "Breakdancer/Zodiac" and albums such as "City Life" in 1985 and "Survival of the Freshest" in 1986. The group's lineup changed over time, with Lil Rahiem and Romeo JD joining later under the management of HUSH Productions. Their music was popular, especially with hits like "Fly Girl" and "You Ain't Fresh," though they never achieved lasting mainstream success beyond these hits.

The Boogie Boys' final album, "Romeo Knight," was released in early 1988. Tragically, William Stroman passed away in October 2001 after completing a solo project under the name Kid Delight. Despite their relatively short-lived mainstream success, the Boogie Boys remain a nostalgic part of early hip-hop history in New York.
