Spectrum

Spectrum was a highly influential Japanese jazz fusion band active in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Formed by keyboardist and composer Tomoki Hasegawa after the disbandment of his previous group, Sadistic Mika Band, Spectrum blended jazz, funk, and pop with a distinctly futuristic sound. They were known for their complex arrangements, Hasegawa's innovative use of synthesizers, and their energetic live performances. They released several albums, including their self-titled debut and follow-ups like *Optical Sunrise* and *Time Break*, showcasing their evolving musical style. Their popularity led to sold-out concerts, culminating in a legendary performance at the Budokan in 1981, captured on the live album *SPECTRUM FINAL*.

Sadly, Spectrum disbanded shortly after that iconic Budokan show. Despite their relatively short lifespan, they left a lasting impact on the Japanese music scene and continue to be celebrated for their innovative sound and contribution to the jazz fusion genre. Their music has been re-released over the years in various compilations like the *GOLDEN BEST* series, allowing new generations to discover their unique blend of musical styles.
