Steven Schick

Steven Schick is a world-renowned percussionist, conductor, and educator celebrated for his pioneering work in contemporary classical music. Over the course of his career, Schick has been a powerful advocate for new music, premiering and commissioning hundreds of works from some of the most innovative composers of our time, including Iannis Xenakis, Brian Ferneyhough, and John Luther Adams. His performances are known for their virtuosic precision and deep emotional resonance, making complex modern compositions accessible and compelling for audiences worldwide.

In addition to his performance career, Schick is a dedicated educator and has held teaching positions at esteemed institutions like the University of California, San Diego. He also served as the artistic director of the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players and the percussion group red fish blue fish.
