De Dijk

De Dijk is an iconic Dutch rock band deeply rooted in the Amsterdam music scene, renowned for their passionate blend of soul, blues, rock, and chanson. Formed in 1981, the group initially forged its sound in the Dutch language, which would become one of their signature traits. The band takes its name from the Amsterdam street 'De Zeedijk,' known for its lively and somewhat raw ambiance, which reflects in the band's music.

Over the years, De Dijk has earned a reverent status in the Netherlands, thanks to their heartfelt lyrics, which resonate with a broad audience, and their electrifying live performances. The band consists of Huub van der Lubbe (vocals), Hans van der Lubbe (bass guitar), Nico Arzbach (lead guitar), Antonie Broek (drums and production), and Pim Kops (keyboards, accordion, saxophone). They gained widespread acclaim with their 1987 album "Niemandsland," which included the hit single "Dansen Op De Vulkaan." Throughout their extensive career, the band has maintained a steady output of studio albums and live recordings, including works like "Groef," "Scherp De Zeis," and the collaborative album "Hold On Tight" with American soul singer Solomon Burke. Their love for energetic live shows is captured in releases such as "DE DIJK in PARADISO" and "Dansen Op De Vulkaan (live in de Ziggo Dome)." With a career spanning over four decades, De Dijk continues to be a beloved and enduring fixture in the Dutch music landscape.
