Índio Cachoeira is a Brazilian violeiro, or viola caipira player, known for his virtuosic technique and deep understanding of traditional Brazilian music. Born in the countryside of São Paulo, Cachoeira began playing the viola at a young age, and quickly developed a reputation as a prodigy. He has since performed and recorded with some of the biggest names in Brazilian music, including Chico Buarque, Gilberto Gil, and Caetano Veloso. Cachoeira's music is a blend of traditional Brazilian rhythms and melodies with his own unique improvisational style.
