Born in the countryside of São Paulo, Cachoeira began playing the viola at a young age, and quickly developed a reputation as a prodigy. He has since performed and recorded with some of the biggest names in Brazilian music, including Chico Buarque, Gilberto Gil, and Caetano Veloso. Cachoeira's music is a blend of traditional Brazilian rhythms and melodies with his own unique improvisational style. He is a master of the viola caipira, and his playing is both technically impressive and emotionally expressive.
