BOL4, which stands for Bolbbalgan4, is a South Korean indie pop duo formed in 2016 by Shofar Music. Originally a two-member group consisting of Ahn Ji-young and Woo Ji-yoon, BOL4 transformed into a solo act under Ji-young's lead, after Ji-yoon left the group in April 2020 to pursue her own musical career. Despite the departure, BOL4 has maintained a unique and recognizable sound characterized by their whimsical melodies and Ji-young’s sweet, compelling vocals.
BOL4 gained widespread popularity with their breakout hit "Galaxy" in 2016 and has since been enchanting listeners with their relatable lyrics and charming indie sound. Their discography includes beloved tracks such as "Hard to Love," "Workaholic," and "Travel." The project’s versatility shines through their various releases, ranging from the light-hearted "Merry Go Round" to the introspective "Filmlet" and the emotive "Seoul." BOL4's poignant storytelling in songs like "Butterfly Effect" and the experimental edge in "Love.zip" exemplifies their continued evolution and musical depth. Despite transitioning to a solo project, BOL4 retains a significant place in the hearts of fans and continues to contribute fresh sounds to the ever-growing K-pop landscape.
