Taana Gardner

Taana Gardner is a disco and post-disco singer best known for her hit “Heartbeat,” a 1981 classic that became an influential track in dance and hip-hop music. Born in Newark, New Jersey, Gardner emerged on the scene in the late 1970s, working with producer Kenton Nix and the legendary West End Records. Her deep, sultry voice and infectious grooves made her a key figure in the New York dance music scene. Beyond "Heartbeat," Gardner had club hits like “When You Touch Me” and “Work That Body," helping shape the sound of early '80s dance floors. Her music continues to be sampled and celebrated in house, hip-hop, and dance music circles today.
