Sunset Rubdown

Sunset Rubdown began as a solo project of Canadian musician Spencer Krug, best known as a member of the critically acclaimed indie rock band Wolf Parade. Krug's work with Sunset Rubdown started in the early 2000s as an outlet for the artist's more experimental and whimsical musical ideas that deviated from Wolf Parade's sound. The project quickly evolved into a full-fledged band with the addition of other musicians, including Michael Doerksen, Jordan Robson-Cramer, and Camilla Wynne Ingr, who helped to enrich the sonic landscape with layers of intricate instrumentation and backing vocals.

Sunset Rubdown's music is characterized by its baroque pop sensibilities mixed with lo-fi indie rock, all underpinned by Krug's distinctive vocal style and poetic lyricism. With the release of their debut album "Snake's Got a Leg" in 2005, the band introduced listeners to their idiosyncratic universe. They gained a modest but dedicated following with their subsequent albums, "Shut Up I Am Dreaming" (2006) and "Random Spirit Lover" (2007), both of which were hailed by indie music aficionados for their inventive arrangements and captivating storytelling. The band's final album, "Dragonslayer," released in 2009, was a culmination of their growth and experimentation, offering an expansive and ambitious sound that continued to cement their status as cult favorites in the indie music scene. Despite their critical success, Sunset Rubdown remained a relatively underground act, treasured by connoisseurs of the artful and surreal corners of rock music.
