Golo Berg

Golo Berg is a respected German conductor born in Weimar in 1968. He studied under Gunter Kahlert at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar and further honed his skills through master classes with renowned conductors like Lorin Maazel and Michael Gielen. Remarkably, he became one of the youngest chief conductors worldwide at age 21 when he took the role at the Landestheater Mecklenburg. Over the years, he has held key positions such as Generalmusikdirektor (GMD) at several theaters, including Theater Hof, Anhaltisches Theater Dessau, Theater Vorpommern, and since 2017, Theater Münster.

Berg's career spans a wide range of musical activities: he has led prominent German orchestras like the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks and the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin and has conducted internationally in countries including the UK, Italy, China, and Japan. Besides symphonic work, he has a strong operatic background with nearly 100 productions staged, collaborating with many notable directors. He is also active in mentoring young conductors through master classes and serves as a jury member for the Deutscher Musikrat. Berg’s discography includes recordings with the Anhaltische Philharmonie and an acclaimed DVD of Wagner’s *Tristan und Isolde*.
