Brussels Jazz Orchestra

The Brussels Jazz Orchestra (BJO) is a world-renowned big band that has been a significant figure in the jazz scene since its foundation in 1993. Based in Brussels, Belgium, the orchestra is known for its high-caliber performances and for working with a diverse range of jazz musicians, composers, and arrangers. With artistic director Frank Vaganée at the helm, the BJO has not only kept the rich tradition of big band music alive but has also infused it with contemporary influences, crossing over into classical and popular music territories.

Their impressive body of work includes collaborations with a variety of international artists and a commitment to promoting Belgian jazz talent, as reflected in their albums such as "The Music of Bert Joris - Warp 9" which showcases the compositions of noted Belgian jazz trumpeter Bert Joris. The BJO has also been recognized for its thematic projects that pay homage to iconic musicians and cultural figures. For instance, "Gainsbourg" is a tribute to the legendary French singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg, and "Brel (Bonus Track Version)" celebrates the music of the influential Belgian singer-songwriter Jacques Brel. With their multifaceted performances and recordings, the Brussels Jazz Orchestra has firmly positioned itself as a leading force in the international jazz community.
