Alice Lackner

Alice Lackner is a German mezzo-soprano born in Munich who has established herself as a versatile performer across opera, concert, and art song repertoire. She studied singing with Prof. Claudia Kunz-Eisenlohr at the HfMT Cologne/Aachen, graduating in 2015, and has continued her training privately with Sami Kustaloglu in Berlin. A scholarship recipient from the German National Academic Foundation, Lackner has won prizes from competitions including "cantatebach!" and the Rheinsberg Castle Chamber Opera.

Her career spans an impressive range of performances with major orchestras such as the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, and Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, collaborating with renowned conductors including Vladimir Jurowski and Wolfgang Katschner. Lackner has performed opera roles including "Martha" in the world premiere of Gordon Kampe's "Dogville" at Aalto-Theater Essen, "Ruggiero" in Handel's "Alcina," and "Negiorea" in Andrea Bernasconi's "L'Huomo." A major focus of her artistry is lieder (art song) performance; she released her debut CD "Ernsthaft?!" in 2021 with pianist Imke Lichtwark, featuring works by Schönberg, Zemlinsky, and contemporary composer Sven Daigger. In October 2023, she recorded the complete art songs by George Antheil with pianist Philip Mayers for Deutschlandfunk, many of which were world premieres. Beyond music, Lackner holds a degree in sociology and works as a researcher at ZOiS Berlin, while also taking on the artistic direction of the "Güldener Herbst" festival in Thuringia from 2025 onwards.
