The King Khan & BBQ Show is a distinctive garage rock duo formed by Canadian musicians Mark Sultan (BBQ) and Arish Ahmad Khan (King Khan). Hailing from Montreal, these two waded through the garage-punk undercurrents before pooling their talents together in 2002 to create a wild, spirited fusion of doo-wop, punk, soul and rock 'n' roll. Sultan, known for his almost one-man-band performance style, completes King Khan's buoyant stage energies and raw vocal howls, producing an aura of a rambunctious and sweaty 60s prom night.
Their self-titled debut album "The King Khan & BBQ Show" set the tone for their sonic signature: stripped-back yet raucously full of charisma. The albums that followed, such as "What's For Dinner?" and "Invisible Girl," further cemented their place in the garage rock revival scene, blending in a lo-fi aesthetic with earworm melodies and infectious rhythms. With subsequent releases including "Bad News Boys" and "Going Down," they've maintained a grit-soaked approach to storytelling through music, wielding humour and heart in equal measure. Their music journeys through a labyrinth of vintage sounds, reminding us that rock and roll is anything but dead; it's just been waiting for The King Khan & BBQ Show to wake it up with a kiss.
