Nadeem Sarwar

Nadeem Sarwar is a renowned Shia Pakistani noha reciter and poet from Karachi. He gained fame in the 1980s for his unique style of reciting nohas, which are melodic poems expressing sorrow for the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and his family at the Battle of Karbala. Sarwar has released numerous albums of nohas over the decades, reciting in multiple languages including Urdu, Sindhi, Punjabi, Persian, and Arabic. His recordings are especially popular during the Islamic month of Muharram.

Sarwar comes from a musical family and began reciting nohas at a young age with guidance from his parents. He is married with three children, including two sons - Ali Shanawar and Ali Jee - who have also become well-known noha reciters. Beyond his musical career, Sarwar has a background in mechanical engineering and design. His passionate performances and prolific output have made him one of the most prominent figures in the world of Shia devotional poetry and music.
