DJ Abilities, born Gregory Keltgen, is a renowned hip-hop DJ and turntablist who made significant waves in the underground rap scene as one half of the duo Eyedea & Abilities, alongside the late rapper Eyedea. Hailing from Minnesota, he's well known for his technical skill, his ability to blend genres, and his fiercely energetic scratch patterns. DJ Abilities began his career in the late 1990s and quickly gained attention for his battle and mixing skills, winning several prestigious DJ competitions including the DMC Regional championships.
The duo's first album, "First Born," was released in 2001, showcasing Abilities' intricate production and cutting skills alongside Eyedea's philosophically dense rhymes. They continued to redefine the boundaries of their genre with albums such as "E&A" in 2004 and "By The Throat" in 2009, which would be their last album together due to Eyedea's untimely passing in 2010. Following the tragic loss of his collaborator, DJ Abilities continued to forge his path as a solo artist, releasing "Phonograph Phoenix" and "Worldwide," where he continued to push the envelope of his craft and keep the spirit of authentic, boundary-pushing hip-hop alive. Through his dynamic performances and emotionally charged beats, DJ Abilities honors the legacy of his partnership with Eyedea while cementing his individual legacy within the hip-hop community.
