Madra Salach is a contemporary Irish folk band from Dublin known for blending traditional Irish music with modern, experimental sounds. Formed around 2023 by musicians who had roots in indie and punk scenes, the group consists of Paul Banks (lead vocals), Adam Cullen (guitar), Jack Martin (guitar/flute), Maxime Arnold (drone), and Dara Duffy (drums). They started by playing classic folk standards in local pubs but quickly evolved to create original tunes that fuse traditional influences with ambient, electronic, and alternative rock elements. Their music is often described as reflective and vulnerable, aiming to provide a positive form of escapism to listeners.
The band released their debut single *Blue & Gold* in 2025, which showcases their signature mix of traditional storytelling and modern instrumentation — featuring swirling harmoniums, mandolins, distorted bass, and dynamic percussion. This track, along with others like *I Was Just A Boy*, marks the launch of their debut EP *It's a Hell of an Age*. Madra Salach’s live performances have earned them residencies and festival spots, quickly making them one of the most talked-about names in Ireland’s experimental folk landscape.
