Daphni is the dance-oriented alter ego of Canadian musician Dan Snaith, who is perhaps best known under his primary moniker, Caribou. Snaith adopted the Daphni alias as an outlet for his more club-focused productions and DJ activities, allowing him to explore the realms of house, techno, and other electronic subgenres with a freewheeling and often improvisational approach. Favouring a more raw and energetic sound, Daphni tracks are characterized by their infectious rhythms and a distinct sense of immediacy that differentiates them from the more lush, psychedelic sounds of Caribou.
