Blithe is a Swedish indie rock band that originated as a cover band in Umeå, Sweden. Founded by Emil Odling, the group began playing covers but soon transitioned to writing their own music. Their early success led to a record deal with A West Side Fabrication/NMW, resulting in the release of "Pagan Rituals Under A Midnight Sun" in parts of Europe in 1992. Their sophomore album, "Head Is Mighty," was released in Europe in 1994 and later re-released in North America by Alias Records in 1996. This marked the beginning of their U.S. presence, with their first tour including performances alongside notable bands like The Cardigans and Archers of Loaf. Their music is characterized by hits such as "Verse Chorus Verse" and "Head Is Mighty," showcasing their strong indie rock sound.
Blithe's journey from a small college town to international recognition is a testament to their dedication and talent. Their live performances have been well-received, especially during their U.S. debut at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York City. The band's ability to connect with diverse audiences has contributed to their enduring presence in the indie rock scene.
