The 4th Dimension

The 4th Dimension is an electric jazz fusion band led by legendary English guitarist John McLaughlin, formed in 2007. The group reflects McLaughlin’s continued passion for blending jazz, rock, and world music influences, and has been praised as his longest-running and most versatile ensemble. Their name reflects the concept of "living in the fourth dimension," which McLaughlin describes as the art of music sculpted in time and space. The lineup includes outstanding musicians such as keyboardist and drummer Gary Husband, bassist Étienne M’Bappé, and drummer Ranjit Barot, whose diverse backgrounds help the band integrate global musical traditions with a spontaneous jazz spirit.

The band’s sound and approach have been likened to McLaughlin’s earlier Mahavishnu Orchestra, offering technically virtuosic performances enriched with maturity and deep interaction. Their live recordings, such as *Live at Ronnie Scott's* and *The Boston Record*, showcase their expansive range and improvisational capabilities. The 4th Dimension continues to tour and record, keeping McLaughlin’s pioneering fusion legacy alive with fresh energy and cultural fusion.
