Barren Earth

Barren Earth is a Finnish progressive death metal band with a rich passion for combining elements of folk, death, and progressive rock to create a unique brand of music that resonates with an air of epic melancholy. The group was formed in Helsinki in the late 2000s, arising from the union of accomplished metal musicians from prominent bands such as Amorphis, Swallow the Sun, and Moonsorrow. Their early work quickly captured the attention of fans and critics alike, leading to a reputation for crafting deeply atmospheric and melodic metal with complex arrangements and thought-provoking lyrics.

Since their inception, Barren Earth has consistently delivered a compelling discography, cultivating an expansive sound that's as dynamic as it is heavy. The band's first EP, “Our Twilight,” released in 2009, set a solid foundation for their subsequent albums. Their debut album "Curse Of The Red River" came out in 2010 and paved the way for a series of well-received records like "The Devil's Resolve" with its deluxe edition and the ambitious "On Lonely Towers." Their latest album, "A Complex of Cages," released in 2018, continues to push the envelope with intricate songwriting and darkly poetic themes, maintaining Barren Earth's standing as torchbearers in the progressive metal scene. Their musical journey is further enriched by singles such as "The Ruby" and "Withdrawal," showcasing the band's evolution and depth.
