Detriment

Detriment is a band with deep roots in the New York hardcore and metal scenes, formed by members coming from various influential local acts. They came together to fill a void in the Long Island hardcore metal community, aiming to bring a fresh yet brutal punk sound with strong metal influences. Their music is characterized by a raw, intense energy that blends the aggression of punk with the heaviness of death metal, making their sound distinct in the underground scene.

The current lineup features Jason Keyser on vocals, Akim Vladimir Hovanecz on guitar, Dan Ryan on bass, and Chuck Diotte on drums, all longtime collaborators since the band's inception around 2000. Detriment has released notable works including the collection "2012-2017," and albums like "Rest with the Dead" and "Suffer This Life," showcasing their commitment to gritty, uncompromising music. Their independent and underground approach has earned them a devoted following among fans of hardcore and extreme metal alike.
