Day Wave is the indie rock music project of Jackson Phillips, who began this endeavor in Oakland, California. Phillips, an artist who favors a DIY approach, has been the mastermind behind Day Wave's dreamy, lo-fi sound, which seamlessly blends nostalgic echoes of new wave and shimmering surf-rock. After teaching himself how to play multiple instruments and breaking away from his previous electronic music project, Carousel, Phillips launched Day Wave in 2015 with the release of his debut EP, "Headcase."
Through a string of poignant, introspective tracks characterized by jangly guitars and candid lyricism, Day Wave has attracted a loyal following. Releases like "The Days We Had," Phillips's debut album, showcase his skill in crafting ethereal soundscapes that resonate with listeners seeking authenticity and emotion. In his more recent work, such as the singles "Loner" and "Pastlife," Phillips continues to refine his sonic signature, blending haunting melodies with lucid, achy vocals that capture the complexity of introspection and self-exploration. Despite often being a one-man show, Day Wave's music speaks to a collective experience of youth, longing, and the quest for personal meaning in the drift of modern life.
