De Staat

De Staat is an eclectic Dutch rock band formed in 2006 by lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Torre Florim while he was still in college. Their music defies easy categorization, blending elements of alternative rock, pop, electronic music, and funk, resulting in a distinctive sound that has attracted a wide audience in their native Netherlands and beyond. With a reputation for experimental sounds and energetic live performances, De Staat has cemented its place in the modern rock landscape, proving to be as innovative in the studio as they are on stage.

The band received critical and commercial acclaim with their potent mix of sharp lyrics and hook-laden melodies. Their recent releases reflect a band that continually pushes their creative boundaries, as evident in their varied albums "Red," "Yellow," and "Blue." These albums have further showcased their ability to experiment with structure and genre, serving a soundscape that's as intellectually compelling as it is sonically engaging. Tracks such as "KITTY KITTY" and its Soulwax Remix, "Bubble Gum," and "Phoenix" demonstrate their musical agility, while songs like "Numbers Up" and "What Goes, Let Go" affirm their knack for catchy, thought-provoking tunes. De Staat's bold approach to music-making confirms their status as a dynamic force in the contemporary rock scene.
