JASSS

Silvia Jiménez Alvarez, known as JASSS, is a Berlin-based Spanish music producer, DJ, and sound artist hailing from Asturias in northern Spain. She began her journey in electronic music by experimenting with field recordings after moving to the Netherlands in 2010, before relocating to Berlin in 2011, where she became a significant figure in the electronic scene. JASSS is recognized for her fearless and eclectic DJ style, smoothly navigating diverse tempos and eras, and for her avant-garde approach to composition showcased in her debut album *Weightless* (2017) released on iDEAL Recordings. She has performed at iconic venues like Berghain’s Säule and festivals such as MUTEK and Sónar, and is known for her seamless blend of industrial, techno, and experimental sounds. Since then, she has released several albums and EPs, including the acclaimed *Whities 027* and *Machine Food*, continually pushing boundaries with her sound.

JASSS’s work extends beyond DJing into live audiovisual performances, sound art, and residencies, reflecting her deep interest in the relationship between music and its social and spatial contexts. Her imprint on the underground electronic music scene is notable for embracing complexity and unpredictability, earning her a reputation as an innovator and vital presence in contemporary electronic music.
