Lich King

Lich King is an American thrash metal band that formed in the mid-2000s, boldly named after the classic villain in fantasy lore, reflecting their tendency toward themes steeped in pop culture and a tongue-in-cheek humor contrasted with aggressive, fast-paced metal riffs. With its beginnings in Greenfield, Massachusetts, Lich King has consistently paid homage to the thrash sounds of the 1980s, while injecting their own brand of ferocity and satirical lyrical content, leading them to garner a devoted following among thrash enthusiasts who crave both nostalgia and a fresh twist on the genre.

Since their inception, Lich King has pushed out a number of full-length albums that showcase their dedication to the thrash genre and aptitude for creating punishing sonic assaults. Beginning with their 2007 debut, "Necromantic Maelstrom," the band has gone through a dynamic journey of evolution and intensity, evidenced by subsequent releases such as "Toxic Zombie Onslaught" (2008), "World Gone Dead" (2010), "Born Of The Bomb" (2012), and "Do-Over" (2014), a cheeky EP featuring re-recordings and new material. Their most recent work, "The Omniclasm" (2017), continues to solidify their standing in the metal community with a matured sound that doesn’t betray their raw, energetic roots. Straddling the line between homage and evolution, Lich King both thrashes and reigns among fans and contemporaries alike.
