Ruben Valenzuela

Ruben Valenzuela is the founder and artistic director of Bach Collegium San Diego (BCSD), where he serves as a conductor and keyboardist. He has led BCSD in acclaimed performances of music from the Renaissance, Baroque, and early Classical periods. Valenzuela also regularly performs as a guest director with notable ensembles such as Bach Vespers at Holy Trinity in New York City, Bach at Emmanuel Church in Boston, and the Washington Bach Consort in Washington, D.C. His conducting style is praised for its brisk rhythmic control and expressiveness, allowing the music to shine through.

Valenzuela's recent performances include works like "Christ lag in Todes Banden, BWV 4" and "Dixit Dominus, HWV 232," showcasing his focus on Baroque repertoire. Additionally, he is a PhD candidate in Musicology at Claremont Graduate University and serves as the Director of Music & Organist at St Peter's Episcopal Church in Del Mar.
