Witchfynde

Witchfynde is a British heavy metal band that formed in the late 1970s, making them one of the many groups that spearheaded the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) movement. The band originated from Mansfield, England, and quickly garnered a following with their dark lyrics, mystical themes, and edgy riffs, which distinguished them from their contemporaries. Witchfynde’s sound often flirted with the occult and mysterious, which added to their allure and stamped their status as one of the more unique bands within the movement.

Their first album, "Give 'Em Hell" (1980), is considered a classic in the NWOBHM genre and solidified their place in the heavy metal scene. Witchfynde’s subsequent releases, such as "Stagefright" (1980) and "Cloak & Dagger" (1983), continued to build on their established sound while exploring more refined musicianship and complex compositions. "The Witching Hour" and "Play It to Death" marked the band's relentless commitment to their style in the midst of changing metal landscapes, while "Lords Of Sin" (1984) showed the band's willingness to expand and experiment within their genre. Despite various hiatuses and line-up changes, Witchfynde maintains a cult following and is revered for their contributions to the foundations of British metal.
