Castor

Castor was an American indie rock and emo band from Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, active primarily in the mid-to-late 1990s. Known for their fluid sound and frequent changes in time signatures within songs, they released two albums: their self-titled debut in 1995 and *Tracking Sounds Alone* in 1998. Although both albums are out of print in physical form, they are still accessible digitally. The band included members Jeff Garber (vocals, guitar) and Derek Niedringhaus (bass), who had previously collaborated in the local band Flower. Castor toured alongside influential indie acts like Braid and Hum, and after disbanding, members pursued other musical projects such as National Skyline and Year of the Rabbit. In 2018, the band reunited for a live show, marking their first performance in 20 years.
