**Józef Zeidler** (1744–1806) was a Polish Classical-era composer whose life remains shrouded in mystery, with sparse details available beyond key dates and locations. Born in Święciechów near Leszno, he later settled in Gostyn around 1775, where he joined the monastic band and likely composed much of his sacred music. Though possibly self-taught, Zeidler left behind a rich catalog including seven masses, litanies, motets, and a striking *Stabat Mater* (1790) featuring arias, duets, and choruses. Dubbed "the Polish Mozart," his work was rediscovered during 2006’s First Festival of Oratory Music, sparking renewed interest in his elegant, Beck-like compositions. Recent releases like *Missa in D Major* and *Zeidler: Nieszpory* showcase his liturgical works, now celebrated through recordings by ensembles like Wrocław Baroque Ensemble and the Adam Mickiewicz University Choir.
