Gyula Stuller

Gyula Stuller, born in Budapest in 1962 into a family of musicians, started playing violin at age six under the guidance of Dr. Ilona Hencz. He went on to study at the Franz Liszt Academy with Ferenc Halász and later at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with György Pauk. Early in his career, Stuller won several international competitions, including the Joseph Szigeti (1979) and Tibor Varga (1986) competitions, which launched his reputation as a top violinist and opened doors to solo engagements across Europe.

After a period assisting Tibor Varga and serving as concertmaster for the Detmold Chamber Orchestra, Stuller became the solo first violin of the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne in 1990, holding that position for 32 years. Alongside his performing career, he has been a dedicated educator, heading the String Faculty at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Lausanne and teaching at several Swiss conservatories. Stuller is also active internationally as a jury member and masterclass tutor, guiding the next generation of violinists.
