Mastersystem was an alternative rock supergroup formed in 2017, comprised of Scottish musicians with an impressive pedigree. The band featured two sets of brothers, Scott Hutchison and Grant Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit fame, along with Justin and James Lockey from Editors and Minor Victories, respectively. Their sound is characterized by a fusion of indie rock sensibilities with a grungy edge, harking back to the heavy, distorted guitars of the '90s, yet tethered to the emotive and anthemic songwriting for which the members' primary bands are known.

Their debut and only studio album, "Dance Music," released in April 2018, served as a sonic playground where the members explored darker and rawer themes both lyrically and musically.
