Dave Rawlings Machine

Dave Rawlings Machine is an Americana project fronted by guitarist and singer Dave Rawlings, best known for his long-standing musical partnership with folk artist Gillian Welch. The group blends rich harmonies, intricate guitar work, and a vintage folk sound that draws heavily from traditional roots music. Their debut album, A Friend of a Friend, was released in 2009 and marked Rawlings’ emergence as a bandleader, featuring contributions from Welch as well as members of Old Crow Medicine Show and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ Benmont Tench.

In 2015, Dave Rawlings Machine released their follow-up, Nashville Obsolete, which continued their exploration of storytelling through layered instrumentation and evocative lyrics. Known for their organic live performances and collaborative spirit, Dave Rawlings Machine has carved out a unique niche in the Americana and folk world, offering a blend of timeless sound and fresh musical perspective.
