Kyiv Symphony Orchestra

The **Kyiv Symphony Orchestra** is a prominent Ukrainian symphony orchestra founded in 1979. It has evolved into one of the most engaging cultural entities in Ukraine, particularly in recent years. The orchestra is noted for its unique fusion of Ukrainian musical sensibility and a Western analytical approach, largely facilitated by its partnership with the Italian conductor Luigi Gaggero. This blend allows the orchestra to create dynamic performances that journey through various musical periods and styles, often linking common themes and influences.

The Kyiv Symphony Orchestra has a diverse and expansive repertoire that spans from the 16th century to contemporary works by younger composers. It has performed at esteemed venues such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Elbphilharmonie, and Gewandhaus Leipzig. The orchestra is also involved in educational programs, including interactive events for children. Additionally, it premiered significant works like Wagner's *Tristan and Isolde* in Ukraine and Maksym Kolomiiets' opera *Night*. Under Gaggero's leadership, the orchestra won the Musical Contest Prize of the Foundation Prince Pierre of Monaco in 2022 for its interpretations of contemporary music. Since 2023, it has been under the patronage of the Berliner Philharmoniker.
