Blapps Posse

Blapps Posse was a collective of musicians that emerged during the late 1980s and early 1990s, combining diverse backgrounds and influences. Founding members included Jazzy Jay and Dazzle D, who initially released music under the name Dynamic Guv’nors with their 1988 track "Rock The Discothèques" on their own Blapps label. Aston Harvey, later known for his work with The Freestylers, joined the collective, and together they produced seminal tracks like "Don’t Hold Back" and "Bus It," which blended elements of hip-hop, rave, and house music. Their unique style was characterized by a mix of scratching, mid-tempo beats, and cut ‘n’ paste techniques, reflecting the vibrant UK breaks and hardcore scene of the time. The group's discography has been re-mastered and digitally re-released, and they have recently revisited their studio work to create new music.

Over time, the collective's members pursued other ventures, with Jazzy Jay adopting the moniker Mad Doctor X and contributing to several projects including the London Funk Allstars. Aston Harvey went on to become a significant figure in the UK speed garage movement as part of The Freestylers. Despite evolving career paths, Blapps Posse remains a notable influence in the history of UK electronic music, known for their energetic and eclectic sound.
