Stephen Page is a renowned saxophonist known for his fearless stage presence and innovative interpretations of saxophone repertoire. Described by composer Libby Larsen as "fearless on stage," he has gained international prominence as one of the leading saxophonists of his generation. Dr. Page has performed across four continents, working with notable conductors like Fredrick Fennell and Ray Cramer. He is acclaimed for his performances of original saxophone works and innovative arrangements of violin repertoire from composers such as Fauré, Grieg, and Bach. Additionally, he has commissioned new works from various composers, further enriching the saxophone repertoire.
Stephen Page is also the Alto Saxophone chair of the critically acclaimed Zzyzx Quartet, with whom he has performed internationally. He has won numerous awards in competitions like the North American Saxophone Alliance Solo Competition and the Yamaha Young Performing Artist Competition. Currently, Dr. Page teaches at the Butler School of Music, University of Texas at Austin. His recent performances and recordings include works like "Felt, Metal, Wood" and "The Saxophone Music of Florent Schmitt," showcasing his versatility and dedication to the saxophone.
