Maja Jaku

Maja Jaku is a celebrated jazz and soul vocalist known for her distinctive vocal tone, emotional depth, and captivating stage presence. Born in 1971 in Kosovska Mitrovica (Serbia), she grew up in a musically rich environment with her father, a trumpet player, which deeply influenced her artistic path. She honed her craft through rigorous jazz studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, learning from jazz legends like Mark Murphy, Sheila Jordan, Andy Bey, and Jay Clayton. Her sound blends timeless jazz tradition with modern sensibility, delivering powerful, intimate performances filled with soulful grace and raw honesty.

Jaku is also a respected university professor and vocal coach, teaching jazz and popular music while actively performing and recording. Her fifth album, *Blessed & Bewitched* (2025), showcases her artistic maturity, recorded in New York with top-tier musicians including drummer Johnathan Blake and bassist Dezron Douglas.
