Keyvan Chemirani

Keyvan Chemirani is an accomplished French-Iranian percussionist known for his mastery of the zarb, a traditional Iranian goblet drum also known as the tombak. Son of the renowned musician Djamchid Chemirani, Keyvan has continued the family’s rich musical legacy, blending classical Persian rhythms with contemporary and global influences. His work often explores the intersections of improvisation, poetry, and rhythm, and he's been a frequent collaborator with artists across jazz, Mediterranean, and world music scenes.

Keyvan’s musical projects, such as "The Rhythm Alchemy" and "Le rythme de la parole," showcase his talent for merging intricate rhythmic structures with a wide range of musical traditions. He’s played with ensembles and artists like Sylvain Luc, Ballaké Sissoko, and Bijan & Ziya Tabatabai, and is a driving force in projects that bridge East and West. Whether he's leading a meditative sound journey with "Melos (Chants de la Méditerranée)" or reimagining traditional narratives in "Sheherazade," Chemirani brings expressive depth and rhythmic sophistication to every performance.
