Nomeansno

**Nomeansno** is a Canadian punk rock band formed in 1979 by brothers Rob and John Wright in Victoria, BC. Initially, the duo was heavily influenced by the punk movement, particularly after witnessing a performance by D.O.A. Their early sound was characterized by a strong emphasis on bass, drawing inspiration from bands like PiL. Over time, they added a guitar player, Andy Kerr, which significantly altered their sound, incorporating a hardcore punk edge. Known for their intelligent, soulful, and complex music, Nomeansno gained a dedicated fan base while maintaining their integrity by avoiding mainstream opportunities. They have released several albums, including "Mama," "You Kill Me," and "All Roads Lead to Ausfahrt," and have toured extensively, earning respect from both fans and peers in the punk scene.

The band's music often explores themes of social commentary and humor, with songs that are both thought-provoking and entertaining. Despite never achieving mainstream success, Nomeansno has been praised for their unique blend of punk and post-modernist hardcore, captivating audiences worldwide with their energetic live performances. Their discography includes notable releases like "The People's Choice," a compilation of fan-selected tracks, and "All Roads Lead to Ausfahrt," which marked a return to their punk roots.
